As promised, I'm going to talk a bit about the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and, to make it more fun, I'm going to compare it a bit with my favourite eyeliner at the moment, the Sketch Marker by Too Faced.
I'm going to start with how they actually look like.
The one on the top is the Too Faced eyeliner and the one underneath is the Kat Von D one. The Too Faced seems to e a bit darker/deeper and it's also harder to remove at the end of the day, even if you don't use any base or fixing spray.
However, the Tattoo Liner offers the best precision I've ever seen, you can basically write with it, like a pen, as you can see. š I'm wearing it in the 1st picture but you can't really see that I've got 3 wings. Check below! ⇩
It also lasts pretty well through the day but I haven't worn it without any base yet. With the Urban Decay Primer Potion you don't have to worry about it.
Sorry for the phone-quality photo but this is me at the end of the day, not super-fresh but willing to share some helpful info. š
In conclusion, I really like the Tattoo Liner, it's now one of my favourite eyeliners. I will probably use it soon for some "crazy" looks, too because it's got potential. I would totally buy it. This one I got for free, as you may have read in my previous post. You can find it at Sephora for 580KÄ/89 Lei/22.5EUR/$27.
I keep forgetting to mention this. The prices are converted on google to give you an idea. I used as a reference the price in the Czech Republic.
I've decided to revive my blog because even though I wanted to film a video for this review I'm still sick. I'll probably be waffling a bit because it's been a while so please, bear with me. š
I had been incredibly excited about the Kat Von D products since I first heard about them. I had wanted to try them for years until they actually became available in the Czech Republic last month. So, despite the fact that I was sick (1st time being sick this autumn, now I'm already to level 2 š¢ ), I went and bought myself some. Since I actually needed some concealer and foundation, I decided to be responsible and got that 1st, then a make-up base and of course, the contour palette. I was also one of the lucky first 50 customers, so I got the Tatoo Liner for free. (yeeeey! free stuff!!!) I was going to buy it anyway, so I saved 580KÄ (22.6 EUR/$26.5/103.5 Lei).
I'm going to start with the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation (890KÄ/38.5EUR/$45.3/176.6 Lei)
I got a lighter shade, hoping to mix it with my Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation that I got in a slightly darker shade than my actual skin tone (summer purchase).
Coverage
Is amazing. Really nice full-coverage. You may not need concealer. I tried it even on my tattoo and you could barely see it after one layer.
I'm not sure how to call this next one, so I'll say "Feeling" or "Texture"
I'm not sure if it's for my skin type, to be honest. Being a full-coverage foundation, it feels quite heavy on my skin. Also, I'm not very happy about how it looks around my eyes, it doesn't seem to blend very well in that area and it accentuates all my lines.
I tried wearing it on its own, mixed with the foundation mentioned above or mixed with both the MF foundation and the Lock-It make-up base but it's still not making sweet love to my skin. However, with some base, it feels slightly better.
I have to say that this applied to my skin only, I encourage you to try it yourselves, maybe it works great for you.
Let's call this section "Time" or "Wearing"
I can fix it with powder (I used Dermablend by Vichy; I will try a different one) but after a few hours, it looks like it's on top of my skin, if that makes any sense. It's like the oils secreted by my skin push the product out. So it doesn't look nice.
It's important to mention that currently (until later today) I'm out of fixing spray so I'll maybe post an update if that makes any difference. It usually does.
I also have to mention that I've been wearing this product for a few weeks now, every day, and this review is based on my whole experience. Which may or may not happen to you.
The Kat Von D Lock-It Hydrating Primer (890KÄ/34.6EUR/$40.7/158.8 Lei)
I've only tried the above-mentioned combination or wearing it underneath the foundation so I'm not sure how it's doing combined with other foundations. I will probably test that out and make a post about it.
"Feeling" or "Texture"
It feels nice on the skin, gets absorbed very fast and looks like it's brightening the skin. I applied it both over moisturizer or just on its own and I can say I don't hate it.
It doesn't minimize my pores (I don't think it claims to do that anyway) but it mattifies my skin nicely.
I'm not sure what else to say about it.
The Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme (730KÄ/28.4EUR/$33.4/130 Lei)
My skin tone is funny. No, I'm serious. I'm "neutral" however, everything is either too pink or too yellow/orange for my skin, even the "neutral" shades. So, obviously, this one is a bit too pink. It's just bright enough but the undertone doesn't match. However, I'm smart enough to mix it with my Makeup Forever Full Cover concealer, which was a bit too yellow for me. So now, I've got MY ACTUAL SHADE (fuckin' amazing!) if I manage to mix the right amount of both.
Coverage
Great full-coverage. Again, tested on my tattoo, covers pretty well.
"Feeling" or "Texture"
I feel like I'm repeating myself and probably no one has had the patience to get this far anyway, so....
Being a full-coverage...bla bla... it can feel quite heavy.
My whole face feels a bit heavy, especially after I set it with powder. However, a fixing spray usually makes everything better, so I'll let you know soon...
This is getting long enough...
The KAT VON D Shade + Light Face Contour Palette (1290KÄ/50EUR/$59/230 Lei)
I love it! š
I'm going to keep it short now, it blends very nicely. I like the shades, especially "Sombre", works very well with my skin tone. The highlighters are a bit heavy (1000th time I'm using "heavy" in this article, yeey!) but not that much. You can use them as powder foundation, actually.
Ok, I'm done. I may come back with some more details about the contour palette and how everything works with fixing spray. Also, the Tattoo Liner will get its own article because I'm going to compare it with my all-time favourite, the Too Faced Sketch Marker.
I'm also planning on getting some lipsticks soon.
Keep in mind that this is my experience, yours may be different!
